He was a shy, calm and thorough academic student who received a bachelor’s degree in software engineering from the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCES) in Lahore. However, when he failed to secure a job in programming, he decided to shift his focus to acting. By this time, he could already play guitar, bass and drums, so he joined the boy band, Entity Paradigm as their lead singer. That is Fawad Khan for you. Thereafter, Fawad Khan did a play called Spartacus and soon entered the business of TV shows and movies.
The actor made his television debut with the 2001 sitcom titledJutt and Bond. Seven years later, he did his first film titled Khuda Kay Liye in 2007. This Shoaib Mansoor socio-drama film became one of Pakistan’s highest-grossing movies at that time. The family-drama TV series Zindagi Gulzar Hai arrived in 2012. Fawad Khan had worked on many movies and TV shows by this time, but this Pakistani drama put him on the radar. Fans of Pakistani dramas back in India instantly fell in love with his character, Zaroon Junaid.
As a delightful surprise for his Indian fans, Fawan Khan revealed that he will be working on an Indian film. He made his Bollywood debut with Shashanka Ghosh’s 2014 comedy-drama, Khoobsurat, which also starred Sonam Kapoor in the lead role. Then came Kapoor & Sons and Aae Dil Hai Mushkil, and Fawad became a bankable name in the Bollywood industry as well.
However, when the 2016 Uri terror attacks occurred, it languished the relations between India and Pakistan. The Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) and the Film Producers Guild of India decided to ban Pakistani artists from working in India. Fawad decided to take a hiatus after the ban. He kept his fans waiting for a long time and returned to the screen with his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Ms. Marvel in 2022. He then appeared in Bilal Lashari’s Punjabi action-drama film, The Legend of Maula Jatt, which became the highest-grossing Pakistani film of all time and the highest-grossing Punjabi-language film of all time. With the ban now lifted, Indian fans of Fawad Khan are expecting to see him in more Bollywood movies and TV shows now.
The actor was last seen in Barzakh, starring alongside Sanam Saeed. The show released on 19 July 2024, marked Fawad’s return to Indian screens as it’s screening on Zee5. The actor is now gearing up for Sultan Ghani’s Albela Rahi, a film with Mahira Khan titled Neelofer, Haseeb Hasan’s upcoming film titled Aan and Pakistan’s first Netflix Original series titled Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo, which is an official adaptation of Farhat Ishtiaq’s 2013 Urdu-language novel of the same name. The family is not amused by Milli’s enthusiasm and clumsiness and is not sure if she will be able to help the king.
